Hip Games’ DOG’S LIFE for the PS2 puts players in the role of Jake, a lovable canine who lives in the quiet town of Clarksville. His life gets turned upside down, however, when his girlfriend Daisy is dognapped! Now Jake must track her down by collecting bones from Clarksville, a ski resort, and a nearby city. Jake has a number of abilities at his disposal, but some will only be available after players have collected a number of bones. One that’s immediately available is called Smellovision. This brings up a first-person view of the area with colored areas that represent a different scent. By encountering a number of different scents, Jake can find more bones or challenge the local top dog to a contest. Other bones can be collected from humans for accomplishing certain tasks like fetching items or herding sheep. Other dogs can be challenged to mini-games for bones. These mini-games consist of races, digging holes, and even marking territory by finding hydrants. After defeating a dog, players can control him for a short period of time. These other breeds have abilities and can go places Jake can’t, so players will have to rely on them to collect some bones. In between hunting bones, players will have to keep Jake fed by begging, stealing food, and sniffing around trashcans. DOG’S LIFE is an unique,
refreshing action game that, while aimed at younger players, is fun for all ages. Players will find DOG’S LIFE an entertaining canine romp.
