With updated, fully 3-D graphics, incredibly accurate stadium and player models, and perfectly replicated ball physics, the game will make baseball fans feel like they’re actually in the stadium. As with all modern baseball games, all 30 major league teams and their stadiums are available for play, and the game includes almost 1,200 players, alternate uniforms, and fantasy fields. While franchise and career modes represent the main modes of play, players can also test their team on exhibition and season play or a home run derby. The online extras include downloadable rosters, exhibition games, and the ability to create custom tournaments for up to 32 players. The game keeps track of over 80 different statistics, league leaders, hall of fame winners, and awards. One of the things MLB 2006 does differently than most baseball games is camera control. Instead of replicating a baseball broadcast, the viewpoint comes from the best point of view for the player. When the player’s team is in the field, for example, the camera zooms out. When a player hits a home run or makes a great catch, the point of view comes from another player on the field. Whether players have been enjoying the MLB series for years or are experiencing it for the first time, MLB 2006 will not disappoint.
